Scovia Rushing, Executive Director
Born in South Sudan, Africa, Scovia has lived most of her life in Kenya, Nairobi, Uganda and Kampala, and now she resides in Memphis, Tennessee. Growing up a Sudanese, she has been exposed to different world-views alongside different cultures. In all her life experiences, she believes that a positive attitude is the most important trait to have and keep on a daily basis.
A positive attitude simply keeps her going. It alone sparks her passion. When her attitude is right, she believes that there is no dream too extreme and no challenge too great for her to accomplish. With the mindset of always being optimistic and building positive relationships with the public, majoring in public relations at The University of Memphis was the perfect match.
Scovia’s middle name is Dawa, meaning “medicine” in Swahili. She always thought that she was destined to become a nurse, but she quickly realized nursing was not her passion. Building positive relationships with everyone around her, however, was. A simple phrase she lives by is “Haraka Haina Baraka.” It is a phrase in Swahili meaning “rushing does not mean one receives blessings,” and when repeated backwards, “Baraka Haina Haraka” simply means “to receive blessings, one can not rush.”
Outside the office, you can find Scovia reading, writing children's books, cooking, running and babysitting.

Dr. Pamela Berry Banks, Senior Director of AIVOCS Foundation
Dr. Pamela Berry Banks was born and raised in Memphis, TN, recently relocating to Baltimore, MD. She is Memphian at heart, determined to positively influence her forever community and like communities across this nation, champion for black and brown youth to have access to quality education with effective tools and equipment in facilities supportive of a positive educational experience.
As a first-generation college graduate, she is fully aware of the power of influence and exposure. This paradigm shift began in 1998, at the start of her career at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. After submitting 17 applications for entry level administrative positions, she yet recalls joy when notified of the $7.75 hourly rate offer. Gratefully fulfilling her duties, compelled in that environment to pursue education, determined to exceed expectation, she received multiple awards and promotions culminating in an executive role as Director for Community Affairs and Special Events. The exposure imprinted eternally. From secretary to director, from no degree to a doctoral degree in Health Administrations, environment influence sparked the fire and determination fueled the flames.
Dr. Banks served the university for more than 20 years, advising, developing and implementing effective value-driven strategies through programming initiatives, event experience management and production, relationship and teambuilding, professional development curriculum design, community engagement and contract negotiation.
Her research focus includes minority student enrollment in higher education, advising leaders of effective diversity, equity and inclusion strategies.
Serving AIVOCS as the Senior Director of the AIVOCS Foundation is done so with vigor, enthusiasm and honor. Purposed to be a positive influence through education, provoking positive perspectives in all situations, helping individuals to discover, “You own your own strength and you and you alone are authorized to control the thermostat and there is no cut off valve, therefore, soar.”

Brianna Davison, CEO Rich Girl Hair Co. INC & AIVOCS Hair Specialist
Known around town as a shero, Memphian Brianna Davison is a woman with a big talent and an even bigger heart. She started her business in 2015, training and styling locals and stars like Jazmine Sullivan while massing a loyal clientele.
While most people online know her for her unbelievably realistic wigs, many have no idea how she arrived at this place. Davison was born in South Memphis, where she excelled as a dancer and a cheerleader. Life, however, was not always exciting. After being homeless, she decided that accomplishing her purpose was her only priority.
Brianna completed school, started her business and even began exploring motivational speaking before hitting an impasse about her business. In 2018, after praying and seeking ways to expand her horizons and to be more charitable, Davison discovered her calling. After meeting a child who lost her hair due to a difficult illness, Davison went home and decided to design a wig that was more lifelike than one she had ever seen. Rich Kids Collection was born and the world would never be the same. Today, Brianna is expanding her business to offer more charitable services for children who have lost their hair and aims to partner with St. Jude Hospital
